For more than a while there, the world wide web and the internet finally showed great promise. They told about the sweet nothing in the ears of us, trying to be the voice of the marginal things which is the new democracy, the great equalizer. But when it wasn’t to be, especially for the internet it has a new master. No, it’s definitely not google. Also it’s not microsoft. Another no is it’s not the good ole’s Uncle Sam. They’re definitely only the caretakers. The internet’s new master is actually bigger than they will ever be and then far and far older.
Well now it’s time to meet the master. If you haven’t noticed that the internet’s new master is the same master which holds the leash of all sophisticated commercial media. The internet’s new master is actually the power and money which is suit it enough. It’s not the capacity to get the money or any of the capacity to improve the power eventhough those are surely nice fringe-benefits. Not again, then the Internet’s new master is the powerful with much money of collective.
Those above which is surely mould and reflect the mainstream opinion, behavior with value. I thought that we finally have seen it, which given the Internet’s military sector of the birthplace. But then again, we were definitely young and optimistic, and definitely we did want to believe! Are you thinking about a bit of melodramatic? Then don’t think it’ll be weird, well maybe a little depends on the fairly but accurate nonetheless. Then give me the chance to explain it as well.
And then the early promise of equity akes the internet started out as the network of computer s which being set up for the military use. To cut the long story to the short one, the World Wide Web started out simply because it could where the internet was there to take host of it. And then the technology was surely there to give it. Both were definitely heralded just like the new face of democracy. At long last, the voiceless finally had a voice.
Of course, eventhough in those heady days, we all known of some fundamental practical and the technological limitations that really threw a spanner in the works for the New World Orderless kind of theory. To get started, the big majority of the world’s population didn’t even have access to any of computer, which much less have one with internet access. As a matter of fact, that was still the case eventhough after the new master take the reins which is probably still it is. But we definitely got the faith in the Internet’s potential. I even wrote a paper in the middle of the 90s years debating the Internet’s promises for a kind of empowerment, thus I quote :
To be such a decentralized also anonymous term of communication, the internet gives great benefits to the world. Being developed or anonymous if really that desired, the communications skills, and the better access to more sources of local and international news, just to name it a couple. Meanwhile at the same time, the internet has great threats to the world’s existing media and political powers, it’s not merely because of the redistribution of such datas and informations or and therefore the power to the populace, but surely because of the apparant which appear impractically or impossibility ? That this need to be questioned. When this is of regulating the information that flow in and out of any kind of country. And finally, I did not see that the internet’s true potential for control and censorship is the content itself.
