What is the differences between 3G and 4G?

I prefer 4G

Verizon Wireless Phones come in a variety of makes and models, most running on 3G technology even as the carrier is busying installing their 4G network. BlackBerry Cell Phones for Verizon are among the most popular of brands available, with a feature set that defines it as, more properly speaking, a smartphone.

2G technology is the most widely used network technology for mobile phones. More than 80% of cellular phone users around the world use 2G technology at present. One disadvantage that 2G technology has compared to 3G is that data rates are limited – it is relatively slower than 3G. Lower data transfer speed means slower music and video downloads, problems when making a video conference call, or long waits for sending/receiving large media messages.

That is the main reason for the development of newer network technologies such as 3G that offer a data transfer speed of up to 2Mbps (2 Mega Bits per second). Anyone using a 3G phone knows that that is far from being true; in fact, it almost never exceeds 384Kbps, at most.

A new technology being developed these days, 4G, will supposedly allow data transfer speeds as high as 100Mbps (50 times faster than today’s 3G!) outdoors, and a blasting 1Gbps indoors.

So what are the main features of 4G technology?

- Wireless internet with a bandwidth much wider than the 2G or the 3G – 100 MHZ.
- Much higher data transfer speed – up to 1Gbps.
- Video conference calls – with more than 2 callers, and due to the faster data transfer rates, less problems; also, will not get stuck as often as it does with 3G.
- Improved security features to prevent frauds and theft.
- On account of the wider bandwidths, data transfers will be relatively cheap

There are not enough details about 4G technology to compare with other technologies. Without a doubt it will be better, faster, and probably cheaper, but all users would have to get the new devices, meaning compatible devices (which probably aren’t going to be cheap), and wait for the new networks and antennas that will go with this newest technology.

Anyway, NTT DoCoMo, the Japanese company working on devloping 4G technology in association with HP, estimates that 4G services will be launched (in Japan only) somewhere between 2010-2016, and it will probably take a couple more years after that for it to get to the United States so that we still have plenty of time to adjust and get ready.

Almost everyone by now knows that every iPod battery has a finite life

Learn how to maximize the chance of being successful on an iPod battery replacement

Apple Computer will not leave you totally hanging – for $59 they will grudgingly accept your iPod and, after a few weeks, will send you a refurbished one back with a new iPod battery. Nevertheless, most people are not willing to give up the iPod that they have grown to love in exchange for a used one with an unknown history, so they rightly choose to replace the battery in their iPod by themselves.

This can be a very affordable and feasible option for most people – with decent do-it-yourself battery replacement kits selling in the $20 to $40 range. And in most cases, the 3rd-party battery that you install will give you much greater playtime than the original, stock battery that came inside your iPod – a big plus.

Find a vendor that not only sells iPod batteries, but can also provide you with good tools, great instructions, and even better support. Avoid eBay fly-by-nights and hokey websites that sell cheap batteries and offer zero support. Installing a battery in your iPod is not the same thing as popping a new battery in your TV remote control, so do not proceed without the right tools and guidance in case you get in a jam.

iPod battery replacement seller ipodjuice.com is by far the category leader here, offering robust batteries, effective tools, detailed instructions with color photographs, and even customer support should you have any questions that aren’t already addressed in their written and online documentation.

Make sure that you get the right battery for your iPod model. iPod batteries physically vary in size and are not compatible between models (a battery for 4th Generation iPod will not fit, for example, inside an iPod mini). When shopping online, pay close attention to the color of the iPod being shown, the location of the navigation buttons, and the color of the ScrollWheel.

Before you grab a tool to change the battery in your iPod, find a clean, bright working space that is located in a non-carpeted area. You are going to be working with small connections and touching electrical components, and you will want to minimize chances of static electricity zapping your player.

This might seem basic, but read the directions that come with your battery replacement kit all the way through before proceeding. You are going to be in a hurry so that you can play music on your iPod once again, but rushing through the battery replacement process is ill advised. Take you time; look at every picture and read every word on the page – if you are unclear about any point, contact your vendor immediately for clarification before starting.

Plan to perform the iPod battery replacement process in one fell swoop. Do not start the project and stop halfway through. This not only increases the likelihood that you will skip a step, but may also cause unintended consequences. The iPod mini battery replacement process, for example, requires that you remove the two white top and bottom end caps. These end caps have adhesive underneath, and leaving these exposed for more than 20 minutes could cause the glue to dry out and prevent the end caps from sticking back in place.

Moreover, once you have connected the new battery, do not rush to close everything back up. Just like a mountain climber that has just reached the top of the peak – you are really just halfway done. Take your time and do not force any of the parts back together.

Once you have successfully installed your new iPod battery, you will be back to hours and hours of uninterrupted playtime once again.

E-Reader is good gift for christmas

Will E-Readers sells?

E-Readers which are also called digital or electronic readers, lets users wirelessly download books and read them on hand-held devices resembling a glorified etch-a-sketch. That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but these handy little digital readers have become extremely popular; according to a recent Time article, Amazon has already sold 1.7 million of the Kindle E-Reader since it was introduced in 2007.

And according to the same article, the Association of American Publishers states total revenue from digital-book downloads has risen 149% this year, while they estimate e-book readers sales to top 3 million by Dec. 31. Plus, according to Forrester Research around 1 million of these gadgets could be sold this holiday season, and sales in 2010 are projected to double, to 6 million.

“The year 2009 is a breakout year for e-readers,” says Sarah Rotman Epps, an analyst with Forrester Research. “But we’re still in the early stages.”

Those make for very impressive numbers and it could point to E-Readers as “the” hot Christmas gift this Holiday Season; at least where tech gadgets are concerned. Given its well received features and programs, an E-Reader could make for an excellent corporate business gift, especially if you could brand them with your company logos and stream them with your company’s newsletters and RSS feeds.

Then we also have the recent launch of the NOOK from Barnes & Noble which will give the Amazon Kindle some competition. The Nook has a 6-inch paper-like display which uses a 16-level grayscale that can support up to five fonts. You can use it to read PDFs, in addition to over 1 million books, newspapers and magazines available in Barnes & Noble’s eBook store. The Nook is currently priced at around $260.

How is it different from the Kindle: besides the flashy color icons, designer cases and color customizable back panel; the Nook does have some nice features such as a virtual bookmark called Reading Now that lets you pick up where you left off reading on the Nook, and it has Wi-Fi radio which customers can use at 700 Barnes & Noble’s locations and at 600 college stores in 50 states. There’s enough memory for holding 1,500 books (2 GB) and there’s a microSD slot which could give you another 16 GB more.

But this holiday season, gift buyers (corporate or otherwise) will have many more E-Readers to choose from other than the Kindle and the Nook. Where there’s a profit to be made, other companies will follow. Just like when Asustek invented the category of Netbook with its ASUS Eee-PC in 2007, other laptop makers and sellers quickly jumped on the bandwagon and the marketplace was flooded with netbooks or mini-laptops.

This recent trend towards E-Readers will prove no different; take for example Sony, who introduced the first electronic reader way back in 2004, will be introducing three new devices according to the Time’s article. The Sony Reader will have a Pocket Edition ($199), sporting a 5-inch-diagonal screen, Touch Edition ($299) which will be touchscreen-equipped and the Daily Edition ($399), which will feature wireless
capability.

Asus is also entering the E-Reader market with a product called the Eee-reader which should be on the market for Christmas. Then there is the Fujitsu FLEPia which is the only commercially available E-Reader which has a color display. It’s only available in Japan and costs around $1,100. Ouch!

For the more modest consumer, the Irex Digital Reader will be hitting U.S. stores this month, October 2009. The DR800 will have an 8.1-in. touchscreen with wireless connectivity and will sell for $90 less than the similarly sized Kindle DX, which will set you back around $489. This is the price at the time of writing, expect those prices to drop as competition heats up.

On the horizon, there are many different versions of the e-reader that will hit the market. There is even a fold up model which will open like a book and another one called the Polymer Vision Readius which is also a phone but it has a flexible screen that folds up around the phone to make it extra portable.

Then we have the looming debut of Apple’s fabled iTablet which could be a game changer in the whole E-Reader arena. It could also be a Kindle or Nook Killer given Apple’s enormous popularity with tech savvy consumers who only want the latest gadget on the market.

One really has to question why all this popularity for the E-Reader, especially since we already have the small portable netbook on the market, which can be easily used for reading books. More specifically, we already have Tablet PCs which could easily fulfill this reading function. Granted they may be slightly larger, but they also offer all the features of a laptop, so why not just convert/use this device as an E-Reader?

Regardless, the E-Reader seems to be gearing up to be a top tech gift this holiday season. The perfect gift for family members, friends and employees alike… especially for the book-reading fanatics in your family or company. E-Readers are also the ideal gifts for those who simply must have the latest and newest tech gadget on the market.

Barcode scanners has different types, methods and housings

Barcode scanners or barcode readers are electronic devices used for reading printed labels. These devices consist of light source, light sensor and lens that translate ocular impulses into electrical impulses. Almost all these devices contain a “decoder” circuitry that analyzes the image data of the barcode. The sensor provides the image data and sends the content of the barcode to the output port of the scanner.

Kinds of Barcode Scanners

There are different kinds of barcode scanners depending on the method employed. The methods of scanning are usually distinguished by the amount of required operator manipulation. Below is a detailed list of scanning methods.

First is the pen type reader. It needs the operator in order to swipe the pen onto the code.

Next, we have the handheld readers, considered semi-automatic. With this scanning method, the operator does not need to swipe the item though he or she must position the scanner near the item’s label.

There is also the fix-mount reader. This method of scanning is done by laterally passing the item’s label over the scanner or reader. It is used for automatic readings. This method does not need any operator although the code target’s position must match with the reader’s imaging capability.

The fourth type is reader gates. It is used by positioning the code under the gate for a short period of time. It enables the scanner to sweep and capture the code successfully.

Types of Housing

The packagings of the readers are distinguishable from one another. A handheld scanner or reader has a typical trigger button and a handle for switching the light source on and off.

The wand or pen scanner is a barcode scanner shaped like a pen. It reads the code when swiped.

The stationary scanner is a fixed device. This can either be a table or wall-mounted scanner. The barcode is passed beside or under the wall or table. It is very common in supermarkets and other retail shops.

The fixed position scanner is an industrialized barcode reader used so as to identify the products during its logistics and manufacture. This is commonly seen on conveyor tracks in order to identify pallets or cartons needed to be routed to another shipping location or process.

Yet another application of this scanner is the joining of checkweighers and holographic scanners in order to detect the barcodes of any placement or orientation as well as the weight of the package. This kind of system is generally used in farm automations and factories for shipping and quality management.

PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) scanner comes with a built-in barcode scanner or an attached barcode scanner. A good example of this scanner is the Grabba. It is a useful accessory to your PDA device.

The automatic reader is an office equipment used to read barcoded documents. It also processes at high-speed or about 50,000 per hour. An example of this reader is the Multiscan MT31.

Barcode Scanner Products

There are so many models but we discuss here only three. First is the ID Tech Econo-Scan Scanner. This has a rugged design suitable for an industrial environment. This has a superior decoding of all the popular symbologies. It costs 74 US dollars.

Second is the Metrologic Scan Pal 2 Barcode Scanner Wireless. It is a portable and lightweight data terminal designed for everyday use. It costs 512.10 US dollars.

And third example is the Symbol LS 2008 Barcode Scanner. This is an innovative handheld scanner that provides performance features at a very low price. If you buy this product, it has a 5-year warranty. The barcode scanners product costs 135 US dollars each.

Where to buy original UMD in Jakarta

Did you looking for UMD? Well.

The Universal Media Disc (UMD) is an optical disc medium developed by Sony for use on their PlayStation Portable handheld gaming and multimedia platform. It can hold up to 1.8 gigabytes of data and is capable of housing video games, feature-length films, and music.

The UMD format never saw implementation on any device other than the PlayStation Portable. As a result, the market is very limited compared to those for other optical media formats. Although poor sales early in the format’s life had caused major studios Universal and Paramount to rescind their support, Sony Pictures, Columbia, and other film publishers continue to distribute their films on UMD in a limited capacity. Capcom, HBO, Disney and various other content producers have also continued their support of the format, releasing TV shows, cartoons and OVAs on UMD as well. Retail support of the format experienced similar troubles, and in 2006 Wal-Mart began phasing out shelf space devoted to UMD movies, with other chains soon following suit. Today, most non-specialty retail stores have stopped bringing in new UMD movies and no longer have a separate section devoted to them, with a few stray unsold titles mixed in amongst the regular PSP games.

I know where you can buy it with the cheapest price and easy steps. You can buy through amazon.com or ebay.com and the price is commonly about 20 USD. The delivery cost is 3 USD, but if you want an express delivery it will cost you about 24 USD. If you live in Indonesia, you can buy through these sites :
www.pasargame.com
www.centralstargames.com
But, if you want buy it yourself just visit ITC Fatmawati, ITC Mangga Dua or Glodok Harco in Jakarta. The prices is variously, but usually it will costs you about 300.000-400.000 IDR. But, because I’m living in Jakarta, I know the condition. It’s very hard to find an original UMD or any games in Indonesia, if you find it, then you are the one that have the original game in your area.
